The cabin
Our handcrafted log cabin, Doris, rests beneath the sheltering branches of an ancient oak tree at the edge of tranquil coppiced woodland. With open fields stretching out before you and sweeping views of the Surrey Hills, Doris offers a secluded haven where peace, comfort, and nature meet.
Inside, you’ll find a spacious, light-filled retreat designed with year-round comfort in mind. The sumptuous king-sized bed is perfectly placed so you can enjoy morning tea while watching the sunrise over the hills. Central heating keeps things cosy through the cooler months, while the glass-fronted log burner adds warmth and a touch of rustic romance. The cabin also features a small table with two leather chairs, solar-powered USB charging points, and thoughtful lighting including bedside reading lamps and dimmable downlights.
The ensuite bathroom comes complete with a flushing toilet, heated towel rail, and a powerful hot shower, complemented by a sink with mirror and a small window to bring in natural light.
Step outside to your raised terrace with bistro seating, a bench for two, festoon lighting, and a small outdoor fridge—ideal for dining al fresco or simply soaking in the evening stillness. A private fire pit with logs provided adds to the charm, while an outdoor kitchen close-by with gas stoves and a cold-water sink gives you the option to cook under the open sky.

Firewood
You’re very welcome to bring your own wood for the outdoor firepit, but please avoid treated wood (such as fence panels or external timber) or anything with nails, staples, screws, or fixings, as these can be hazardous once the wood has burned through.
For the indoor log burner, only firewood purchased from us may be used—please don’t burn foraged wood inside the cabin.
Guests are welcome to collect small kindling from the woodland floor, but please leave larger fallen branches and logs to nature. To get you started, we provide seasoned firewood and firelighters for both the log burner and the firepit, and additional firewood can be purchased in advance or during your stay.
